KEYNOTE: From ‘Words on the Wall’ to Observable Impact: Leading for Impact in Today’s Schools
Wednesday June 4, 2025 8:00am - 9:30am EDT
“Through our continued commitment to our diverse learners, we create a culture of engaged, collaborative, resilient contributors who can think critically and creatively to be successful in a global society.” Sounds great, doesn’t it? As school leaders, we dedicate time, plans, resources and collaborative meetings to make vision statements such as this come to life in our schools. Yet, despite our best leadership efforts, these statements and improvement documents are often developed by a few, read by fewer, and inspire even less. The question becomes ‘How can we find a way to move from creating visions, mission statements, plans and ‘words on the wall’ to engaging those we lead to have observable impact, the impact that we can actually SEE in our classrooms?’.  Introducing the Observable Impact Model, the model used in districts and schools across the US, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and Asia to help leaders connect their leadership actions and improvement efforts to classroom impact while building teacher and leader efficacy in the process.

"What Do I Tell My Teachers? Leading Inclusive Practices Without Co-Teaching"
Wednesday June 4, 2025 9:45am - 11:00am EDT
In today’s inclusive classrooms, general education teachers in Science and Social Studies are often expected to meet the needs of students with disabilities—without the daily presence of a special education teacher. These students may have IEPs that include accommodations such as read-aloud supports, chunked tasks, reduced assignments, or behavior intervention strategies. Many teachers, however, feel underprepared to implement these accommodations effectively, and administrators are seeking guidance on how to support them.

This professional learning session is designed specifically for administrators. It will provide school leaders with the knowledge, tools, and practical strategies needed to support general education teachers in delivering accessible instruction in Science and Social Studies. Participants will learn how to build systems of support, promote inclusive best practices, and leverage school-based resources to ensure that students with disabilities can meaningfully engage in content learning—even when they don’t receive direct special education services in those classes.

BEYOND ‘BUY-IN’: RE-THINKING RESISTANCE LIMITED
Wednesday June 4, 2025 9:45am - 11:00am EDT
As a district or school leader, each of us has a bullet point in our job description that says something like ‘be the lead learner’, yet when it comes to the day-to-day realities of being in a district position or running a school, the concept of educational leadership seems to slip farther and farther down our ever-growing ‘to do’ lists and the ‘tyranny of right now’! When we do find the time to be an educational leader, we often have to work through frustration and resistance from those we lead to the changes that can make a difference for each of our students.  So how do we move from ‘aggravation’ and ‘getting buy-in’ to ‘co-creation’ and ‘impact’? In this practical, hands-on workshop, participants will examine the concept of resistance through the lens of ‘UX’, and examine some of the reasons that we might actually cause resistance even when we don’t mean to! Participants will leave with ready-to-use strategies to re-imagine resistance and model practices we want to see in our classrooms that lead to observable, impactful change where it matters the most, in our classrooms with our students.

The Necessity of Specially Designed Instruction LIMITED
Wednesday June 4, 2025 9:45am - 11:00am EDT
The delivery of specially designed instruction (SDI) is necessary to address the unique needs of students with disabilities, while also providing for access to the general education curriculum. The Endrew F. Supreme Court decision of 2017 further raised the bar for the provision of SDI to achieve appropriate progress given the student’s circumstances but further to provide the student an opportunity to meet challenging and ambitious goals. Educators must adapt the content, methodology, or delivery of instruction to address their students’ unique needs and to support attainment of their challenging and ambitious goals. Research tells us that the use of explicit instructional techniques to deliver and intensify instruction is the pathway to success for students with disabilities and to meet the requirements for delivery of specially designed instruction (HLPs 11, 12, 16 and 20). During this session, the participants will examine the legal requirements for the delivery of SDI and instructional practices to meet the needs of students identified within their Standards Based Individual Education Programs.

Further, progress monitoring must be part of the on-going SDI process with resulting data charted to visibly determine whether the SDI is on track to reach its target or if adjustments must be made.

The Power of Flex: Turning Data into Math Success LIMITED
Wednesday June 4, 2025 11:15am - 12:30pm EDT
In this session, we will share how our school leveraged the master scheduling process and real-time data analysis to create a responsive, student-centered approach to Algebra readiness for sixth grade students. Using data from the 2023–2024 school year—including benchmark assessments, classroom performance, and teacher observations—we designed a flexible instructional model that adapts to student needs in real time.

Our approach centers around a strategically scheduled Algebra Readiness class, supported by collaborative teacher teams, flexible student movement, and targeted instruction. Through intentional grouping and ongoing progress monitoring, students are moved between whole group, small group, and co-taught settings based on current performance and conceptual understanding. Teachers co-planned and shared ownership for groups of students, adjusting content delivery and pacing in a dynamic, needs-based structure.

The “flex” in our model refers not only to flexible scheduling but also to flexible mindsets—among staff and students. You’ll learn how we created space in the master schedule to support this model, built systems for analyzing math data meaningfully, and empowered educators to make instructional decisions that prioritized growth over labels.

Participants will leave with examples of flexible scheduling templates, intervention models, and collaborative planning structures that can be adapted to fit a variety of school contexts. If you're looking to close gaps, boost math confidence, and build a smarter schedule—this session is for you.

The Necessity of Specially Designed Instruction LIMITED
Wednesday June 4, 2025 2:15pm - 3:30pm EDT
