High-quality secondary science instruction often differs significantly from traditional teaching methods, prompting administrators to ask: Are students engaged and learning or are they going through the motions? It’s time to #ChangeTheStory. This interactive session will equip leaders to conduct effective learning walks and walkthroughs in secondary science classrooms, focusing specifically on the 5E instructional model, Science and Engineering Practices (SEPs), sensemaking, and student discourse. Using video examples, discussion protocols, and a structured walkthrough observation tool, participants will practice identifying high-impact instructional practices and providing feedback. You don’t need to be a science educator to support and grow science educators.
